The mountains in our region reaches up to 1400 meters above sea level. However the mountains are only one part of the landscape and the possibilities are endless. There are 3 glaciers that reach within the boarders of the district and only 15 km in a straight line from the school lies Gjengnalundsbreen glacier and 40 minutes by car is the famed Jostendalsbreen glacier, the largest in Norway and one of the largest in all Europe. In under two hours by car you'll find two of Norway's premier national parks, Summørsalpane and Jotunheimen. Transport / Access is Good >> Direct express buses to Nordfjord from Bergen, Ålesund, Trondheim and Oslo. >> Local airport in Sandane, only 4 km from the school >> By car, drive the E39 along the West Coast. From Eastern parts of Norway (namely Oslo) you can use the main highways / roads that lead over Hemsedal or the Stryn Mountains. |
